Joe Cooper Scholarship (JCS)

This scholarship fund was established by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Mississippi in 2019 to honor Dr. Joe Cooper, Professor Emeritus and Department Chair of Philosophy at Mississippi College. Dr. Cooper was a supporter of CBF and CBF of Mississippi from their founding. He was a WWII veteran and POW, and an ordained Baptist minister who pastored two Mississippi congregations and served as interim to many more churches across the state. He was a distinguished professor who taught for over 30 years at his alma mater. Deeply passionate about the value of collegiate education and the well-being of his students, he ministered in numerous ways to those in his care. This scholarship represents his desire to financially assist those who are committed to furthering their education.
